We weren't sure about it but we finally decided to make the trip to DC for this past weekend.
So we booked a hotel and, because we didn't want to get there to late in order to take advantage of a full day, we set up our alarm clock for 5:30am on Saturday morning and we were gone by 6:30am...no need to say that some of us didn't ask much to go back to sleep during the 4 hours drive.
Once we got there, Rachel and I checked in and then we gave a call to Papa, Maman and Claire, who were waiting in the car, to come meet us in the room (of course because we made reservation only for 2 people so we had to sneak them in after).
It was such an awesome day with such a nice weather. I think everyone got sunburned (especially Maman and Rachel that are still suffering from it) and I even got my own little sunstroke as I was really close to throw up on the Mall's lawn not far from the Washington monument if Maman didn't give me an aspirin and if Rachel didn't go to get me some coke.
The other little thing was that Claire's feet were killing her so bad since the early afternoon that I have no idea how she went through the whole day with the pain even though I had to carry her for a mile on my back! Bravo Claire.
Sunday morning, Papa and I went for a little run for an hour, just so we can say that we ran in DC. Then, after breakfast, we headed to Mount Vernon to visit Georges Wshington's Mansion. I thought we would stay not more than couple hours, but it was actually a big propriety and it was very interesting, beautiful, and very well done to bring out the curiosity of visitors.
So that said, we actually stayed until the closing time of the site just after having see what was left from Washington's fake teeth...made out of human and animal real teeth. Is that why we say having a "horse smile"? :o) Sorry Mr. President!
Anyway, came the time to ride back home after a great weekend. Washington was a great city to visit, very clean and pretty and I think we all had a great time there...except maybe my stomach and Claire's feet.
