Sunday at the Beach

Before the start of the summer, we were saying how much we would like to go the beach for a relaxing day. But an unusually very busy summer prevented us to do so. And when we finally had one free weekend, we got all of our stuff together (you know,  all the crap you need for one day at the beach - 2 or 3 sunscreen lotions, water - cause there's not enough in the ocean, diaper bag for the baby, umbrella, lunch...) and the three of us headed to Point Pleasant for a fun morning at the beach and on the boardwalk with Théo.
He really enjoyed it right away but when we tried to get closer to the water, Théo did not feel very reassured and didn't want to leave my arms.
Thankfully, with a little bit of patience, he felt a little more comfortable and started to enjoy the sound of the waves, or at least he wasn't afraid anymore. We were even able to go in for a dip...until a big wave scared him so we all got back on the sand.
The other fun part was the boardwalk and to see Théo enjoying his first rides on his own. After finishing the day with a much deserved ice cream, he was completely worn out and ready for a long nap during our way back home.

Father's Day | At The Bronx Zoo

This week it was Papa's turn to be treated like a king for the day.
We had a short morning at home to get ready to go spend the day at The Bronx Zoo. I had always heard about it but never went, and so when Rachel told me the night before that this was what she had planned for the day, I was simply thrilled at the idea of spending my father's day with her and Théo at the zoo!
Théo was already all geared up, ready to leave with his backpack for the adventure of the day.
We were also going to spend the day with the Serafinis who had also planned to go there (small world!).

Théo was really happy and intrigued by all of the animals, and we all spent an awesome day. This was the perfect way to celebrate the dads. I am of course taking advantage of this post  to wish a fantastic one to my dad to whom I send tons of hugs and kisses.

Birthday Field Trip

Last weekend, Sara, my mom and I took a special field trip to celebrate Sara's birthday. The day started out bright and early with Théo's weekly dip in the pool, but this time in the arms of his Tata Sara.
Then, us girls took off to Glen Mills, Pennsylvania where the amazing "Terrain at Styer's" was waiting for us. Sara has been wanting to visit Anthropologie's sister garden store for a long time now, and this weekend provided just the occasion. We started our visit with a delicious lunch at the café and spent the remainder of the afternoon exploring every corner of the store. While it was a bit of a trek to get there, it was well worth the 2-hour trip!

Tata Claire, Théo and The Apples of Oldwick

And so it was Claire's turn to come and meet Théo, to fall under the charm of our little peanut. She was able to see at the same time how much our lives have changed since Théo's arrival: the feedings, diaper changes, the baths, the short nights...
But for us, it's also so great to have family members from France that come to visit one after another, which makes it much easier to wait until the Holidays.Meanwhile, last Sunday we arranged to meet with Sara, Jenny, Erik and their 13 month old little girl, Ellis, and go apple picking at a farm in Oldwick. We couldn't have asked for better weather and we left the sweaters in the car to take full advantage of the sun even though it was the middle of October.
Afterward we all went to the Mills' House to celebrate Sara's birthday who turned 30 last Monday. While we were there we also enjoyed some games of "Cornhole Game".
Let's hope we'll have the same weather this Saturday when we'll go to the country again to do some pumpkin picking this time!

At The Beach

Last Saturday, the weather called for some time outside the home and so we went for a picnic at the beach in Longbranch. It was nice and warm even though there is always a cool breeze at the shore this time of the year. But it was nice enough to stay a few hours with some guitar melodies. Here are some pictures of the day...

When The Old Gets New

Saturday was another beautiful day to start the weekend off right. So we took advantage of it to refinish an old dresser that will end up in the baby's room. Beverly came to help me with some good advice and everything we needed to do the job (I know, I never have anything). For the background story, this dresser is twice our age as Bonne Maman bought it 63 years ago when Arlette was born! And it made its way to us and now looks brand new, ready to survive the next generation. Now I have to return the favor and so I'll go help Bev paint the new windows at the Mills' next weekend.
The picture of Rachel and I was taken last Sunday at Branch Brook Park in Newark during the cherry blossom festival where they have over 4000 trees in bloom...although with our bad luck the blooming was almost over and most of the trees were already flowerless. But it was a beautiful day and we had a nice picnic :)
