A lot of time has passed since August and the last post (once again) and I'll try to go back to the few things that I would have liked to talk about but didn't get the chance until now. And the New Year is just the opportunity to do so.
By the end of the summer, we worked hard in the backyard, but also in the front yard to remodel the landscape a little bit. I dug out all the ugly bushes we had in the front and we replaced them with new ones and completed the empty area with annuals like marigolds and begonias. Here is how it looked at the end of the summer (of course it does not look like that anymore but hopefully it will come back into shape come Spring).
Théo's first day of school in a regular daycare finally came. After being in an in-home daycare with only 2 other kids, he was ready to go to a bigger daycare wtih 18 other little people his age.
Around this time we also transitioned him from his crib to a big boy bed that he got from his cousin, Bruno. We were wondering how he would adjust, but he ended up loving it right away, especially since he can get out of his bedroom whenever he wants.
OCTOBER
To take advantage of the fall, we went pumpkin picking with Barbara, Massimo and Emma (Théo's best bud) for a fun day.
Little did we know that Hurricane Sandy would come along and the Serafinis would be back at our house for a long stay as they had no power for almost two weeks. But we were more than happy to help and to have them with us for a fun, full house. Théo was really sad the day Emma had to go home and the house felt empty once everyone was gone.
We lost a tree and a piece of our fence during the storm, but no other damages occurred here and we feel very fortunate after seeing what others have endured and lost.
NOVEMBER
One fun project we did was to paint the wall next to our side door entrance with chalkboard paint so Théo has a fun space to draw while we're busy doing other stuff. We're super happy with the result and we hope this area will be used over and over again by Théo to let his creativity speak.
Our swim baby class continues and even if it's hard to get out at 7am on a Saturday morning, we're still having a great time at each session.
This is always a busy month between our birthdays and Christmas. This year was even busier as we hosted Christmas Eve for the first time thinking that it would be nice for Théo to wake up in his own bed on Christmas morning.
After a long hesitation at the store on what tree to pick, we finally agreed on one to bring home as our Christmas tree this year. Théo would have probably enjoyed taking one just about his size, but the choice was made and he was not too displeased anyway.
CHRISTMAS DAY
Right after Christmas we finally had a decent snow fall and even if it did not stay very long on the ground, we were able to enjoy it at least once with Théo before it melted. We are now looking forward to the next one!
Finally, to finish the year, we simply stayed home to celebrate and welcome the New Year of 2013. We wish everyone a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. May 2013 bring you joy and happiness in your life.
