...at Manon. This is our favorite restaurant. Not because it's French - well maybe! Long time before I came to the US, when Rachel and I were just starting dating, she was already telling me about this place. This is the place where she and her family were going for special occasions and still do...and so we carried on the tradition. Except that this time, there was no real special occasion but just the fact that I wanted to bring my lovely pregnant wife for a good meal and I was sure to please her by choosing this place. The low lighting brings a warm atmosphere with a huge Van Gogh painting on the ceiling and other Provencal decorations.
I can't say anything about the food but that it is simply delicious and that ...they have the same menu for at least 15 years...probably more!
Before that we spent some time in THE street of Frenchtown not far from Lambertville where the restaurant is. A cute, very little town but most of the stores were already closed and it was cold outside so we went in a little café for a good hot chocolate. Well, until:
R:"phew...for one moment I thought there was a hair in my cup...but it's just cocoa".
F:"let me see...mmmm I think it IS a hair honey!"
And then I started to pull out a hair 10 inches long from Rachel's cup! Just enough for her to almost want to throw up. So we left right away and went to Lambertville. It was a cute place though...and my cup was fine :)
We were still an hour ahead for the restaurant so we spent some time at the Boat House for a nice drink (with no hair) before being seated finally at Manon for a nice romantic dinner just the two of us. Bon Appétit!

Manon is a very special place for so many reasons. If it was closer I would be there more often but maybe because it is far makes it all the more enjoyable when I get there. I am glad you both love this restaurant and carrying on the family tradition to go to Manon when you want to celebrate a memorable evening. Mom
Laughing out loud!! I can just see Rachel's face, and your English writing skills are fabulous! Really, Fab, you could write one of those great small humorous books like those we read of France that are so good. You do have a talent for story-telling!
