Friday we finally carved our pumpkin for Halloween! Well it was actually turnips. We saw a while ago that we could carve them as well and suspend them with some string. So we chose this option for this year and we might do it again in the future as it was a lot of fun to do it. If you wondering about doing it too, give it a try...and it's so much faster than carving a pumpkin!
Then for the actual day we went spending the evening at Jen's for a "Pimp and Ho" party where we had a nice time, delicious food (thanks Jen) and I actually even surprised myself watching the World Series...almost with interest :o) Sorry, no pictures of Rachel and I in our outfit this time even though I was totally presentable.
Finally, special thanks to Doria for her apple cake recipe that I finally decided to make. It was so good! I actually baked them in little "cocotte" instead of a tart mold to fancy it a little bit and show off...always have to put your signature on it, right?!

What a great idea to use turnips for the jack-o-lanterns! They both have such creative faces. I'll have to give it a try for next Halloween.
Yeah we loved them. The bad part is that they "shrink" and get soft much faster than pumpkins, but it was a fun to make them and we'll probably do it again next years...along with some pumpkins :o)
